I like the instant gratification that my Kindle DX provides. I read a review in the Sunday NY Times Book Review and can download the book instantly. But as I read about new e-readers and tablets that will be coming to the market soon, I feel the Kindle could quickly become a legacy system. I’d like a real Web browser with fast networking; dual technology screen that supports color; I want to see the graphics in magazines; I want to book cover art in color; I want to be able to add apps just like my smartphone.

I bought this for my son’s science project. He is trying to generate 10.5 volts to power a video game from a bicycle. We saw this and thought, “Perfect!” According to my voltmeter, it puts out maybe .9 volts, not the 12 V it says it does. This is a waste of money!

I don’t know if you have seen the videos on this thing, but they are legit. I have an English Cream Golden Retriever that I brush almost every other day with the furminator, and by the time I’m done, the pile of fur I remove from her looks like a little poodle. Definitely cuts down on her shedding as well… BUT you have to use it on a consistent basis if you want to maximize its benefits (decrease shedding).

I’ve used this scale for three weeks now. For comparison, I kept using a Weight Watcher scale, too (which I wanted to replace because it seemed erratic). For esthetics and price, I like the EatSmart. For functionality, it was not what I expected. For one thing, the accompanying directions say the Step-On (no tap) won’t work if you’ve moved it or changed batteries. If so, you have to reset it, jumping on and off and on again. That was a disappointment, because I wanted to keep it in a closet and just haul it out to weigh. I don’t think the ad spelled out that detail. Somehow, though, even if I move it, it doesn’t demand a reset after all. However, for another thing, the weight never changed, even though I’m sure a different time of day or fluid intake should budge it at least 0.2 pounds. But it stubbornly returned the same figure day after day — until, that is, I reinserted a battery in order to make it reset. Then it reported a notably different weight, one about the same as the Weight Watcher’s for that day. This is a sequence I’ve repeated several times now. So, bottom line: I’m not sure I can trust it. The Weight Watcher was much too ready to show big and implausible variations. The EatSmart is much too reluctant to show any variation at all.

The wii is the best game system ever. Even though we are the last people on earth to own one. The Amazon purchase was a pleasant experience. The system came quickly and in great condition.
THE LISTENER S GUIDE

I tried desperately not to go to the dark side. I was a big fan of Open Office…until I used it more and more. MS Office is faster and easier to use. It also has features amenable to tablet PC use that are seamless. I often sign by hand (on my tablet) and fax documents I create. Previously, I had to print to windows journal, sign, and then print to pdf. With the inking features built into Word, I can sign to my document “directly”, save it as a pdf and then fax it with fewer steps, all without using any paper. MS office just works more intuitively than Open Office, for instance it is much simpler to set up a background for a slide show presentation in Power Point than in Open Office Impress.

This is a great pedometer. In the first couple days, I tried to see how accurately it tracked my steps – I am completely pleased. I don’t believe that it really over or underestimates how many steps I take. I love that it can calibrate for me to include distance travelled and if I’ve had any moments of aerobic walking and how long those were. I really like the 7 day history as well so that I can go back and put in my steps for days that I forget to log. Excellent device! I really hope it holds up!

Wonderful!!! Used it to help me train for my first marathon and wore it during the race. It helped me monitor my pace and finish the race under my goal time. It is like a training partner on your wrist.

The Wii has been very enjoyable. It’s a nice way to stay interactive with people, while still playing a video game.
