What was I waiting for? This Kindle is fabulous. Traveling with only a Kindle instead of 3 or 4 books lightens my carry-on, and I’m actually bringing more than 3 or 4 books. Adding books without having to hook up to a computer … even better!

The first time I heard about this book was about two or three years ago when my cousin told me this was “soooo gooood!” and I had to read it. I didn’t at first because I knew it was in the Young Adult section of the bookstore and I am always a bit iffy about that section.
Then, once the movie came out and there was this huge craze that followed, I definitely didn’t want to read the books because I try to not get sucked into all the hype.
This past Thanksgiving, I saw that another one of my cousins had the books and I asked her if I could borrow the first book so I could find out what all this mess was about. I definitely didn’t want to waste my money if the books turned out to be as dumb as I thought they would be.
So, on the car ride home I started reading … and reading… and reading … I found that I couldn’t put the book down! When I wasn’t reading, I was thinking about the book and how I wished I could be reading. True this is no mind bending, life changing work of literature, but I found it to be quite addictive and I don’t know why!
As soon as I finished the first book, I ran out to Wal-mart and bought the other three books because I couldn’t wait to have them shipped to me from Amazon.
By the end of the next week, I had finished all the books!
I hate my self a little for getting sucked into these books, but I just found them so entertaining and addictive.

If you like adventure, romance, suspense, and excitement… read the last third of Water for Elephants. The first two-thirds set the stage for a thrilling ending, but that’s all. Although Gruen’s style of writing is rich with varied vocabulary and description, the elements of the first part of the plot evoke little to no emotion in the reader. Even if the author didn’t spend a hundred pages building the back-story, the strange sexual elements that rear their ugly faces every few pages completely ruin the enjoyment of reading this book. If you want to spend 300 pages wondering why you’re reading this story, then pick up Water for Elephants and enjoy the most boring story you have ever read.

I am by no means a “Brand Snob”-I buy Target Brand Formula and shoes from Walmart. However, when it comes to diapers, I will ONLY buy Pampers for my 1-year old daughter. In my attempt to save money, I did try numerous other brands like Huggies, Luvs, and Walmarts’ White Clouds. Pampers simply are the most absorbent and Leak-Proof Diapers you can buy. In my experience, Huggies are simply not as good as drawing away moisture from your child’s tender skin and they produce tiny “gel-like” granules when they become wet which is a bit worrisome. My second child got Horrible Diaper Rash from wearing Huggies when she was a newborn – I’m talking about a RAW and RED bottom. I switched her to Pampers and the rash went away.
And unlike my first child who didn’t mind frequent diaper changes (LUVS worked fine with her), my second child DETESTS them. She will scream and twist her body. So, to be honest, I don’t change her unless she has a “soiled” diaper or a wet diaper that is FULL. Sometimes she’ll go 3-4 hrs in a pair of Pampers and she’s totally fine. AND I HAVE NEVER HAD THEM LEAK. I would ba afraid to try that with any other brand. Yes, they cost a bit more but in my opinion, they are worth it!

I got this set to transition my two babies, one who has a sensory processing disorder and does not transition easily, from bedtime bottles to sippies. It was over in one night. They looked at the mouthpiece a little funny, but since they were still holding a “bottle” and the mouthpiece was soft, they started drinking from them without a fuss. The transition to sippies was a piece of cake from there!
